An unprecedented incident occurred in North-Eastern Greece, when a lightning stroke an intercity bus on a national road on Saturday afternoon.
The bus was burned to the ground and it was due to the electric discharge system of the bus and the driver’s quick reflexes that averted a tragedy.
The incident occurred near the village of Monastiraki by Ferres in the Prefecture of Evros, (Northern Greece) near the border with Turkey.
According to local media, there was a strong thunderstorm when the lightning hit the bus around 4 o’ clock Saturday afternoon.
Six (6) fire service trucks with a total of 18 firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire before spreading in the surrounding agricultural area.
